Closed: Call for Papers: Evolving Agriculture and Food – Opening up Biodynamic Research

The Call for Papers for the 1st International Conference on Biodynamic Research in Dornach (Switzerland), September 5th to 8th 2018 is now closed.

We are thankful to have received more than 100 interesting abstracts from scientists and farmer researchers from Sri Lanka, France, Egypt, Brazil, the USA , India, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Lithuania and the United Kingdom.

Biodynamic research is done in any agricultural field, in many places of the world using a great diversity of methods and disciplines, getting in touch with many other research areas. Taking an inter- and trans-disciplinary approach, we aim to bring together both academic research and farmer’s expertise to explore and discuss issues in biodynamic food and farming systems. The perspective taken on these issues may be from a classical scientific point of view as well as from an innovative methodical standpoint.

We have invited contributions to the following topics:

  1. New scientific methods in academic and on-farm research

  2. The farm organism and (new) perspectives in agroecology

  3. Beyond matter: Non-material influences on agriculture – quantum physics & co in agriculture

  4. Associative economy – an approach to sustainable food systems

  5. Living soil, soil life, and soil fertility

  6. Research on plants

  7. Food for live - food quality, nutrition and health

  8. Animal welfare

  9. others

Scientific contributions must follow common rules for the description of survey methods and data assessment. Contributions that do not meet scientific requirements (e.g. farmer observations without statistical data evaluation) can be submitted as ‘Observation papers’.

Proposals may be for oral or poster presentation. The final decision on the presentation form will be taken by the programme committee. All abstracts must be in English language.

Abstracts will be subject to a review process. The programme committee decides about the acceptance or rejection of proposals based on the reviewer comments until May 15th, 2018.

We aim to arrange a special issue with a peer-reviewed scientific journal where authors can submit papers based on their contribution to the conference. Note that papers will have to pass the regular review process of the journal.
